Babel: A new typology
The painting ‘The Tower of Babel’ by Pieter Bruegel from the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum was the inspiration for Babel. The jury of the Open Call Family Apartments competition (2016) described Laurens Boodt’s prize-winning design as ‘the face of a new residential typology’. The unique design takes ‘street space’ into account: connection with the street, at height, where residents can easily come into contact with each other. During the tours we walk across the terraces of Babel and explore the residential complex from the inside with a visit to one of the apartments.
