Delftse Poort: Never Built

The iconic glass towers of the Delftse Poort can be seen from far and wide; until 2009, it was even the tallest building in the Netherlands. On the 23rd floor, you can be amazed by the original competition models. In 1986, five architects submitted a design for the competition for the insurance company Nationale Nederlanden. Architects Coenen, Quist, Kraaijvanger, Van Mourik and Bonnema came up with a variety of designs. A green facade with flagpoles on top or a sleek grey façade were among the possibilities. The long-stored models are dusted off especially for Day and Night. Study them up close and discover what this Rotterdam icon could have looked like.
