De Kaai: From Factory to Neighbourhood

This former Unilever factory is located on the Nassaukade in a prominent spot along the river Maas – which cannot be missed with its impressively gigantic peanut butter pots! Recently, the once margarine-turned-peanut-butter factory was sold and thus stopped producing Blue Band and Calvé, among other products. In the coming years, this site will transform into a lively 1000-dwelling urban environment called ’De Kaai’. A guide will take you through the old factory – a real piece of industrial heritage – before Mecanoo Architects present their design for the live-work neighbourhood.
